Texas State University Students Team Up To “Just Say NOpioids”

Texas State University Students are teaming up to fight Opioids abuse and addiction.

Students will have an opportunity to pledge to the campaign “Just Say NOpioids” April 2 thru April 4 to pledge to the campaign and sign up for a free yoga class at Shine on Yoga.

Just Say NOpioids at Texas State University are a team of students who strive to provide information and resources about the opioid crisis. This campaign’s purpose is to shed light on a serious topic and show students their futures are of utmost importance.

A tent will be set up in the quad with information on the opioid crisis, resources and free merchandise. There will also be a poster board and paper cut out prescription bottles to pledge names.

Anyone can pledge on either Facebook or Twitter and tag us @txstNOpioid, use the hashtag #justsayNOpioid.

Shine on Yoga is hosting a free yoga class 2 PM on April 5 at 302-B University Dr, San Marcos, TX centered on balancing life. Yoga mats are provided, but participants can bring their own. The first 30 people to sign up during quad days have a spot in the class.

“Opioids are a nationwide epidemic and participants have an opportunity to learn valuable information about what an opioid is and how to dispose of unused prescriptions.”

An opioid is narcotic such as codeine, hydrocodone, morphine, oxycodone, fentanyl and heroin. Prescriptions should be disposed at local drugstores or at a police department to prevent the risk of misuse.
