Texas State University To Hold Exclusive Draft Day For 14-Year-Old Recruit

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, Team Impact announced Texas State University will host an exclusive “Draft Day” Ceremony for 14-year-old who has joined the school’s roster.

Mathiaz Rocha of San Marcos, Texas, will become an official Texas State Bobcats Teammate on February 26, 2019. Rocha is battling Pseudotumor Cerebri.

Through Team IMPACT’s program at Division I Texas State University, the top recruit will become an official member of the Football team. As a team member, Mathiaz will attend Bobcats practices, games, team dinners, events, and more. 

Rcoha will sign an official letter of intent at Tuesday’s event, and Texas State University Football Head Coach, Jake Spavital, will give some special remarks.

Team IMPACT is a national nonprofit headquartered in Boston, MA, that connects children facing serious or chronic illnesses with college athletic teams, forming life-long bonds and life-changing outcomes.

Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched more than 1,700 children with more than 500 colleges and universities in 49 states, reaching over 50,000 participating student-athletes. The child joins the athletic team and the student-athletes join the child’s support team.

Throughout the journey, the child gains strength, camaraderie and support while the student-athletes experience lessons of courage, resiliency and perspective they can’t learn in a classroom.

Team IMPACT has more than 1,000 teams waiting to be matched with children, ages 5-16, who have been diagnosed with a serious or chronic illness and who could benefit from becoming a member of the team.
