Texas State’s Student Named SBC Offensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Texas State women’s soccer forward Kassi Hormuth was named the Sun Belt Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week following her performance in the opening weekend of conference play. This is the first weekly conference award for her in Bobcat career and by a Texas State player this season.

Hormuth began the weekend by assisting on Lauren Prater’s game-winning goal just over four minutes into overtime on Friday against Little Rock. The junior recorded her second assist of the weekend when Clarissa Leon knocked in the game-tying goal in the first half against Georgia State.

The Cedar Park, Texas native gave Texas State an insurance goal in the 83rd minute when her attempted cross found the upper left inside netting of the goal for her second tally of the season. She ended the match against the Panthers with a career-high tying three points.

For the week, Hormuth finished with a goal and two assists in helping the Bobcats win their first two SBC matches for the third consecutive season.

This weekend Texas State hits the road to take on Appalachian State on Friday at 6 p.m. CDT and Georgia Southern at 12 p.m. CDT on Sunday.
