Texas State’s Rodney Rohde named ASCP Career Ambassador

SAN MARCOS – The American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) awarded Rodney Rohde, chair of the Clinical Laboratory Science Program at Texas State University, the ASCP Career Ambassador Honor during the ASCP annual meeting in Boston.

Career Ambassadors and Pathology Ambassadors are a volunteer network of laboratory professional, pathologist and resident members that promote careers in the medical laboratory in their communities.

Through hands-on activities and engaging presentations, ambassadors help young people and others understand and appreciate the medical laboratory’s role in patient care and inspire them to pursue a career in the medical laboratory and pathology while cultivating relationships in their community.

For three decades, Rohde has been an advocate for both the public health and medical laboratory profession at state, national and global levels.

“Each year, ASCP recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to pathology and laboratory medicine,” said ASCP Past President Melissa P. Upton, of the University of Washington Medical Center. “Through a variety of awards, we celebrate leaders across the profession for their imagination, their tenacity and their vision.”
