“The Bus” Releases Upcoming Hopkins Detour Plan

With the Hopkins Street improvements project moving into the construction phase, the City of San Marcos and CARTS are preparing public transit service detours to start as early as Monday, May 11.

The City’s public transit system, “The Bus” will detour onto West San Antonio Street when heading Westbound and Belvin Street when heading Eastbound. Instructions on where to catch “The Bus” will be posted on each bus stop sign in the construction zone.

“The City considers public transit a vital service and takes any barriers to access very seriously,” said Transit Manager Pete Binion. “We are working hard to proactively provide clear instructions to our ridership to ensure continuity of service during these construction detours.”

“The Bus” will continue the “Crosstown” Route 1 which begins at Walmart and travels along Highway 80 to Hopkins Street, to Wonder World Drive, and services the Christus Santa Rosa Hospital (formerly CTMC) prior to returning along the same path to Walmart.

Information will be posted for the public at the San Marcos Station and in the “Crosstown” Route 1 buses with information for riders in English and Spanish.
