BUDA, TX – The City of Buda continues to experience a scam involving a caller who is telling residents there is “fraudulent activity” as well as “outstanding tickets” and is asking for immediate compliance.
According to the city, it appears the caller is spoofing several City of Buda office numbers. Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity.
If someone calls a resident from a City of Buda number claiming that their social security number has been compromised and/or they have outstanding payments, this is a scam. Residents can ask for the caller’s name, hang up and call the City back with the information they received. Residents are also encouraged to report this to the Buda Police Department at 512-393-7896.
Remember, the City of Buda will never request personal information over the phone; residents are able to make secure payments on our website for all utility and traffic ticket matters.
