The Discovery Center, Local Phoenix Learning Center Partner To Bring Monarch Garden To SMHS

The City of San Marcos Discovery Center staff partnered up with the Local Phoenix Learning Center students to install a monarch garden at the San Marcos High School.

The Discovery Center was awarded the $400 grant for the garden from the Native Plant Society’s “Bring Back the Monarchs to Texas” program, and the team planted monarch-friendly plants such as Common Milkweed, Lantana, Mistflower and Texas Sage.
