Staff Report
Last week Kyle started the long awaited reconstruction of Lehman Road. Kyle residents should be prepared for detours during the roadwork.
Underground utilities will kickoff this reconstruction project, with an estimated project wrap up timeline of 24 months and the closed portion of FM 150 to Masonwood to last several months.
However, inclement weather and other issues can affect the anticipated schedule throughout the entire project.
Motorists should be prepared for detours and closures during the the construction period. The contractor is required to display signage in advance of traffic changes, lane shifts, detours and closures.
The Hays CISD transportation department has been informed of the detours and is planning bus routes accordingly. Student drivers who use Lehman Rd. from FM 150 should use the detours listed below.
Burleson St.: Temporarily shut down from Center St. to Tenorio for several more weeks (weather and other issues may affect that schedule). The cross streets will be open for those who live in the work zone, but no thru traffic will be allowed. Detour signs are posted.
Lehman Rd.: Work began on Feb. 25. The portion of the road from FM 150 to Masonwood will be closed to traffic for several months (weather and other issues pending). Detour signs are posted.
Marketplace Extension: This road is nearing completion. The contractor is wrapping up several items and the road is still barricaded.
Old Stagecoach Rd.: Work is winding down. The contractor is finishing utility improvements and surface restoration. The roadway is anticipated to be open the week of March 11, weather permitting.
Please note that the Lehman and Burleson projects involve a complete overhaul; utilities are being moved and crews are doing major reconstruction of the roadways.
The City of Kyle has asked motorists to be patient throughout the duration of the project.
