Three Local Non-Profits Receive Donations From Grande Communications Employee Philanthropy Club

These donations are part of Grande’s employee philanthropy club, Grande Cares, where employees seek to enhance the communities where they provide service and where they live, work and play.

Grande Communications, the Texas-based broadband communications company, recently presented grants to three local non-profits, Helping Hand Home for Children, United Way Hays/Caldwell Counties, and School Fuel.

These donations are part of Grande’s employee philanthropy club, Grande Cares, where employees seek to enhance the communities where they provide service and where they live, work and play.

Helping Hand Home received a check for $1,000. The organization is the oldest continuously operating residential childcare agency in Travis County and a priceless resource kept strong and viable through community support. Helping Hand Home provides a safe haven for children healing from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect or abandonment.

United Way of Hays and Caldwell Counties received a check for a $1,000 for their program Change A Child’s Story Book Distribution which ensures that over 1750 pre-K and head start students throughout Hays and Caldwell Counties have access to books in their home. Each child is provided with a book bag that they can call their own, five bilingual books, a literacy kit containing scissors, markers crayons, and a 40-page booklet that includes over 500 different activities, tips and strategies that parents can use to help their child become kindergarten-ready.

School Fuel received a check for $2,500. The nonprofit provides hungry students with four meals and four snacks each weekend during the school year. More than 98% of the funds received are used for food. In SMCISD, all children may eat breakfast free of charge. School fuel grew from serving 499 students in three schools in 2015-16 to serving 557 students in four elementary schools in 2016-2017. In the upcoming 2017-2018 school year 617 students in five elementary schools will receive weekend food sacks with the help of funds received from our community.
