An environmental impact study for the potential alignment of RM 150 from just west of Kyle to near I-35 will be the topic of discussion at an upcoming open house hosted by the Texas Department of Transportation on Thursday, Aug. 2 from 4 – 7 p.m.

The meeting will take place at Wallace Middle School Cafeteria, 1302 W. Center Street, Kyle, Texas 78640.

The purpose of the proposed project is to enhance safety and mobility through Hays County, while relieving traffic in and around the city of Kyle by potentially moving the state roadway out of downtown, and providing an additional connection to I-35.

As Hays County, Kyle, and Buda continue to grow at a pace exceeding most Central Texas growth rates, RM 150 will bear a greater burden of increased traffic, resulting in worsened congestion under existing roadway design conditions.

In addition, congestion is exacerbated by the presence of an at-grade rail crossing of the Union Pacific rail line at RM 150 (locally referred to as Center Street) in downtown Kyle.

In 2014, Hays County began studying RM 150 to identify the alignment from just west of Kyle to near I-35. Since the last public meeting in 2015, the County and TxDOT have been coordinating to identify roles, responsibilities, and funding for the continuation of the environmental study.

Now, the project team is ready to meet with the community to share more information about potential alignments and gather public feedback.

The open house will provide citizens the opportunity to review and comment on potential alignments for RM 150. Displays will be available for review and staff will be present to answer questions.

No formal presentation will be given and attendees are invited to come and go at their convenience.

Comments will be accepted through Aug. 17, 2018 and can be submitted at the open house, online at www.improve150.com, by email at info@improve150.com or by mail at RM 150 Alignment, P.O. Box 5459, Austin, Texas 78763.
