The mission of the San Marcos Public Library is to help make San Marcos a great place to live by providing their citizens with access to an outstanding collection of library materials; entertaining and educational programs for all ages; fast, free computer, Internet, and information services; and comfortable facilities in which to read, relax, and connect with others. They provide outstanding customer service and they promote reading and learning as vital, enjoyable, lifelong activities.

• Family Science — Saturday, August 4, 2018 •

Learning is fun when children and parents play with science together! Explore different science topics and try out new experiments every week. A parent will need to attend with their child. Presented by Izzy DeLeon of Texas State University.

• One for the Books SMPL “Artzibit” — Saturday, August 4, 2018 •

Some of San Marcos’ favorite local artists will ruffle some pages up at the San Marcos Public Library by way of live music and art. Local painters and creators include Furly and Molly, Debangana Banerjee, Kelsey Huckaby, and more! Prints and originals will be showcased at the reception. A small collection will be exhibited in the display case during August if you miss out on the opening.

• Free Yoga in the Library — Sunday, August 5, 2018 •

This new yoga program is organized for maintaining and improving health, removing stress, and obtaining peace of mind. In between yoga exercises, meditation will be practiced. All levels welcome.

Cost: Free — Time: 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM

• Mermaid and Sea Monster Hat Craft — Tuesday, August 7, 2018 •

REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Register for this event

Ages 5 and up – Registration Required. Join us to make a fun mermaid or sea monster hat to wear during San Marcos’ Mermaid Splash Weeks (September 8-22). Supplies provided.

Cost: Free — Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

• Computer Class – Wednesday, August 8  •

The library offers free computer classes each Wednesday in basic computing skills, Internet, email, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. You can also get help with your tablet. Looking to apply for a job? We’re here to help with resumes and online applications.

• Kent Cummins Magic Show – Wednesday, August 8 •

All Ages – Free Ticket Required Magnificent magician Kent Cummins and his granddaughter the Amazing Adele will astonish all ages with feats of mystifying magic and illustrious illusion. Pick up free tickets beginning July 25. Program sponsored in honor of L. Dianne Murray.
