Austin – The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close north and southbound I-35 mainlanes in alternating directions so crews can safely install overhead signs as part of the I-35 Oltorf Street project.
On Monday, June 24 at 11 p.m., crews will begin closing the southbound I-35 mainlanes between the Woodland Avenue/Oltorf Street exit ramp and the entrance ramp south of Oltorf Street.
Drivers must exit southbound I-35 at the Woodland Avenue/Oltorf Street (exit 232) and will be able to re-enter just south of Oltorf Street. Woodland Avenue and the Oltorf Street bridge at I-35 will also close beginning at 11 p.m. All roadways are expected to reopen at 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, June 25 at 11 p.m., crews will begin closing the northbound I-35 mainlanes and entrance ramps at Oltorf Street. Drivers on northbound I-35 must exit at Oltorf Street (exit 232A), travel through the intersection and re-enter I-35 at the next entrance ramp. The Oltorf Street bridge will also be closed to traffic. All roadways are expected to reopen at 5 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the closure. TxDOT and the contractor recognize the inconvenience this will cause and are committed to getting the work done quickly and safely.
