Traffic Alert: Aquarena Springs/ Loop 82 Lanes Closed Friday For Overpass Construction

AUSTIN –The eastbound lanes and westbound right lane of Loop 82 (Aquarena Springs Drive) will be closed in San Marcos on Friday, June 16, so workers can continue construction on the overpass near Bobcat Stadium.

The lanes will be closed between Charles Austin Drive and Laurel Lane from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic will detour using Thorpe Lane and Charles Austin Drive.

Crews will be demolishing concrete forms over the travel lanes.

Once the new overpass bridge is constructed, drivers will be able to use the new mainlanes to go over the railroad tracks.

Jordan Foster Construction is the contractor for the $20.7 million project that is expected to continue until late 2017, weather permitting.

Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the closure. Motorists should allow extra time to travel through this area during the affected hours. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone.
