Traffic Alert: Weekly Closures & Detours For I-35

everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 mainlanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 mainlanes going over Posey Road.

Closures are weather permitting

 

  • Northbound I-35 exit ramps at Posey Road (#199) and Centerpoint Road (#200) are closed. The southbound I-35 entrance ramp south of Posey Road is also closed. | Until further notice

 

  • Posey Road closed at I-35. | Until further notice

 

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from York Creek Road to Centerpoint Road. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

  • Southbound I-35 left lane closed nightly at Stassney Lane. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • North and southbound William Cannon Drive left lane closed nightly at I-35. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Monday, Sept. 30 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • North and southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed nightly at William Cannon Drive. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Monday, Sept. 30 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 right two lanes closed at SH 71. The SH 71 exit ramp will also be closed. | Monday, Sept. 30 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Chaparral Road and Foremost Drive. | Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Slaughter Lane and Boggy Creek Drive. | Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 right two lanes closed between Slaughter Lane and William Cannon Drive. The William Cannon Drive exit ramp and following entrance ramp will also be closed. | Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed at William Cannon Drive. | Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane between William Cannon Drive and Stassney Lane. | Through Friday, Oct. 4

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Northbound I-35 right lane closed nightly at Oltorf Street. | Wednesday, Oct. 2 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed nightly from St. Edwards Drive to Woodward Street. | Wednesday, Oct. 2 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed nightly from Oltorf Street to Woodland Avenue. | Wednesday, Oct. 2 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily from Mariposa Drive to Algarita Avenue. | Monday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

  • Northbound I-35 right two lanes closed nightly from US 290 East to US 183. Exit #240 will also be closed. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound US 183 frontage road left lane closed nightly at Cameron Road. The Cameron Road exit ramp will also be closed. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • North and southbound I-35 left two lanes closed nightly from Barwood Park to US 183. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 left two lanes closed nightly from Barwood Park to US 290 East. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • North and southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed daily from St. Johns Avenue to Huntland Drive. | Monday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • North to southbound US 183 U-turn closed daily at the I-35 frontage road. | Monday, Sept. 30 through Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 AM until 3 PM

 

  • Northbound US 183 frontage road left lane closed nightly from Norwood Park Boulevard to Clock Tower Drive. | Tuesday, Oct. 1 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM 1431 TO FM 3406 (NORTHBOUND)

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

  • Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from FM 3406 (Old Settlers Boulevard) to RM 1431 (University Boulevard). | Through late 2020

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Reduced congestion, improved mobility at Parmer Lane and Lamar Boulevard, operational efficiency, more reliable travel times, lower fuel consumption. The start date is summer 2019 and is scheduled to be completed summer of 2021. The construction costs are estimated to be $24.6 million.

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly from Bell County to SH 195 for paving. Ramps will also be closed as needed. | Sunday, Sept. 22 through Friday, Sept. 27 from 8 PM until 5:30 AM

 

  • North and southbound Robert S. Light Boulevard left lane closed at I-35. | Monday, Sept. 30 from 9 PM until 2 AM

 

  • Northbound I-35 right two lanes closed from Wonder World Drive to SH 123. Exit #204 will also be closed. | Sunday, Sept. 29 from 10 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 right lane closed at 51st Street. | Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed at 51st Street. | Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 9 PM until 5 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane nightly between Bell County Line and SH 195 for paving. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 4 from 9 PM until 8 AM

 

  • Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between the Travis County Line and Cabela’s Drive. | Sunday, Sept. 29 through Thursday, Oct. 3 from 9 PM until 5 AM
