Closures, Detours, Traffic Alerts

for March 7 – 13

I-35 AT POSEY ROAD

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project will construct a new overpass on I-35 over Posey Road, add two new U-turns in each direction at Posey Road, perform ramp reversals and convert two-way frontage roads to one-way.

Currently, the I-35 main lanes go under Posey Road. The new configuration will have the I-35 main lanes going over Posey Road.

• Posey Road bridge closed at I-35.

• Northbound I-35 Posey Road exit (#199) and Centerpoint Road exit (#200) are closed.

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 main lanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

• Northbound I-35 right lane closed from FM 1327 to Onion Creek Parkway.
  ° Sunday, March 8 from 9 PM until 5 AM

• Southbound I-35 frontage road closures at Stassney Lane.
  ° Monday, March 9 through Tuesday, March 10 from 9 AM until 3 PM

• East and westbound Stassney Lane right turn lane closed daily at I-35.
  ° Monday, March 9 through Friday, March 13 from 9 AM until 3 PM

• North and southbound I-35 frontage road right turn lane closed daily at Stassney Lane.
  ° Monday, March 9 through Friday, March 13 from 9 AM until 3 PM

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads.

Additionally, construction of new extended entrance/exit lanes for main lanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

• Northbound US 183 frontage road left lane closed from I-35 to Gessner Drive.

• Southbound US 183 frontage road closed from I-35 to Carver Avenue.
  ° Saturday, March 7 at 5 AM until Sunday, March 8 at 5 AM

• Southbound US 183 frontage road closed nightly from I-35 to Carver Avenue.
  ° Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM

• Northbound I-35 right lane closed nightly from Blackson Avenue to Norwood Park Boulevard. The Rundberg Lane exit ramp (#241) will also be closed.
  ° Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM

• North and southbound US 183 left lane closed nightly at I-35.
  ° Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM
  

• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed nightly from Blackson Avenue to St. Johns Avenue.
  ° Sunday, March 8 through Saturday, March 14 from 9 PM until 5 AM

• East and westbound St. Johns Avenue closed nightly at the I-35 frontage road.
  ° Sunday, March 8 through Thursday, March 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM

• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed daily from Blackson Avenue to Huntland Drive.
  ° Monday, March 9 through Thursday, March 12 from 9 AM until 3 PM

• Northbound US 183 frontage road right lane closed from Cameron Road to Norwood Park Boulevard.
  ° Monday, March 9 from 9 AM until 3 PM

• North and southbound US 183 frontage road closed nightly from I-35 to Clock Tower Drive.
  ° Monday, March 9 through Thursday, March 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM

• North and southbound I-35 left lane closed nightly from 51st Street to US 290 East.
  ° Tuesday, March 10 through Thursday, March 12 from 9 PM until 5 AM

I-35 FROM 1431 TO FM 3406 (NORTHBOUND)

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge.

• Northbound I-35 frontage road reduced to one lane from Jeffrey Way to RM 1431.
  ° Through late 2020

I-35 FROM US-79 TO SH-45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 main lanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

I-35 AT PARMER LANE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Reduced congestion, improved mobility at Parmer Lane and Lamar Boulevard, operational efficiency, more reliable travel times, lower fuel consumption.

The start date is summer 2019 and is scheduled to be completed summer of 2021. The construction costs are estimated to be $24.6 million.
