Projects affecting San Marcos traffic February 15 – 21, 2015

READ & MOORE STREET: Installation of a new water line connection at the intersection of Read and Moore Street until Sunday, March 22, 2015, weather permitting. All traffic on Moore St. between Read St. and Blanco Hall Drive will be one-way heading south toward Old RR 12. There will be no left turn from Blanco Hall Drive onto Moore, resulting in right turns only toward Old RR 12. Use caution and pay attention to all appropriate signage. ALTO AT MIDWAY: Intersection and all lanes in both directions on Alto closed Feb. 19, 2015 from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. for installation of new water line. Please obey all appropriate traffic signage. M&C Fonseca Construction, Inc. 830.596.1754

HAZELTON AT PERKINS: Intersection and all lanes in both directions on Hazelton to be closed Feb. 20, 2015 from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. for installation of new water line. M&C Fonseca Construction, Inc. 830.596.1754

GUADALUPE/LBJ (ALLEY ON HOPKINS): One lane closed from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. for a Valentine’s Day event. Traffic will be monitored to allow passage of emergency vehicles. Please obey all appropriate traffic and detour signage. 512.393.8430

120 E. SAN ANTONIO (THE MARC): The alley between The Marc /Allstate will be closed for unloading and loading of equipment on February 13, 2015 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., Feb. 14 from 2 a.m. – 4 a.m. and Feb. 15 from 12:30 a.m. – 4 a.m. Access will be allowed to property owners and emergency vehicles. Bus driver or other designated person will be available to move the tour bus if needed. The Marc, 915.731.1294

IH 35/YARRINGTON: Rolling closure Feb. 22 for all lanes, including frontage roads, to remove overhead power lines across all travel lanes. Closure will start at 7 a.m. with police officers slowing traffic to stop. Approximately 30 minutes closure. TxDOT, 512.585.3540

UNIVERSITY & LBJ (DOWNTOWN): Workers will begin the installation of decorative pavers over the next several weeks in the crosswalks throughout the downtown area to include University and LBJ. Traffic will continue to flow two ways but will be reduced to one lane intermittently. CIP/ENGINEERING, 512.393.8130

700 – 1200 BLK BELVIN ST: The Texas Council for Music and the Arts will close all lanes in both directions on the 700-1200 block of Belvin St. for a parade to be held on Feb. 14, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Intersections will be monitored to allow residents access to their homes and passage of emergency vehicles. EAST SAN ANTONIO STREET: Every Saturday from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.  Half a block of street closed from the alley to N. LBJ for the Farmers Market on the Square. Main Street Program, 512.393.8430

LONG TERM ROAD PROJECTS:

  • MOORE STREET: Moore Street is closed from Read to Holland Street until 2016 for dormitory construction. Texas State University FPDC, 512.245.2202
  • NORTH LBJ AT ACORN: Reconstruction of N. LBJ will continue until end of February 2015 in conjunction with the N. LBJ reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Acorn Street can be accessed from Chestnut during this time period.   • NORTH LBJ: Until Spring of 2015. Reconstruction project for street, sidewalk, drainage, water and wastewater improvements. Motorists will be detoured one way northbound on LBJ from Forest to Holland Streets and will use Chestnut as a southbound route during construction. Engineering/Capital Improvements, 512.393.8130
  • TxDOT HUNTER ROAD (FM 2439) PROJECT: Lane closures on Hunter Road between Wonder World Drive and Bishop Street for road, bridge, drainage, bicycle and pedestrian improvements through the Fall 2015. TxDOT, 512.282.2113 or City of San Marcos CIP/ Engineering, 512.393.8130.
