San Marcos, Texas—Traffic has cleared near the intersection IH-35 and Wonder World after a Union Pacific train clipped a semi Saturday morning.
According to San Marcos’ Kristi Wyatt, a semi carrying gravel stalled over the tracks. Some time later, a train was passing through the area. Though the warning lights and crossing guards were activated, the truck was unable to clear the track, and the train clipped the trailer.
No one was injured in the accident, but the collision caused heavy traffic in the area. Union Pacific’s spokesperson said the damage to the train was minimal, and it was empty at the time of the collision.
Access roads along IH-35 were closed for two and a half hours while authorities cleaned up the site. By 1:50 p.m., traffic had resumed.
