A 67-year-old local woman is in “serious condition” after being struck by a Texas State tram yesterday evening.

San Marcos resident Rosemary Suniga, 67, was hit just before 7 p.m. by a university tram heading southbound on Guadalupe Street as she crossed in front of the bus. San Marcos Police, Fire and EMS responded to a call. Representatives from the bus contractor, Transdev, were at the scene.

Suniga was transported to University Hospital at Brackenridge in Austin and is currently in “serious condition,” said Kristi Wyatt, director of communications, in an e-mail.

The city’s Collision Investigation Team is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the case, city and Transdev officials said.
