Travis Texans Explore Geography, Goodnight MS Basketball And Classical Guitar Choir Win First Place At Competition

San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District is making strides to engage its students in learning every day.

San Marcos CISD has nearly 8,000 students enrolled between its high school, two middle schools and six elementary schools according to the district’s website. 

Here is a quick look at what SMCISD students and staff were up to the week of January 26 thru January 31.

On January 27, San Marcos CISD held its Inaugural Health Fair at the San Marcos High School Activity Center.

The doors opened at 7 AM for a morning of learning and fun about a healthy lifestyle. Attendees enjoyed food, moon bounces and more. The day started with the annual fun run, which started at Baker

Stadium and took participants straight to the fair. Among the participants of the fun run were district staff, students, parents and other members of the community.

According to SMCISD, the event was “a huge success.”

On Tuesday, Travis Elementary School students explored the Giant Traveling Map of Texas, which allowed them “limitless depth of geography knowledge” in a fun and exciting way.

The Goodnight Middle School’s 8^th grade boys basketball team won first place in the Lake Travis Invitational on January 29.  

On the same night, the PSAT, Khan Academy & GEAR UP Information Session was in full swing at Goodnight Middle School. Parents who attended were informed of the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, or better known as PSAT and the abundance of opportunities for their student(s) to better prepare them for the next level of education.

The Crockett Elementary Music Program is presenting Alice in Wonderland Jr. for four nights beginning Friday, Feb. 1, at 7 PM. Tickets are $5 per person, and all children under 5-years-old is free.

The Goodnight Middle School opened their doors to the community for a fun-filled interactive and educational evening for their 2018-2019 Science Fair.

The San Marcos High School Classical guitar program brought back five first place division medals from their first ever UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest on Wednesday.
