Travis Elementary Student Council Receives National Award

Travis Elementary School principal Niki Konecki received notification from the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) Foundation, congratulating Travis with an Honor Student Council Excellence Award for the 2016-2017 school year.

The award recognizes outstanding achievement conducted by student councils in the areas of community service, student leadership, citizenship, and school spirit. Travis will display the certificate in the school where all the students and staff can take pride in their school’s accomplishment.

The Travis Student Council, along with The Rotary of Greater San Marcos and advisors Counselor Christi Andrews and Principal Niki Konecki, leads the student body in several service learning projects each year.  This year they have raised money for the San Marcos Children’s Shelter and the National Military Family Association.

Student Council members have also volunteered their time and service through events such as the Rotary Triathalon, new student tours and mentoring, helping with the Travis Veteran’s Day Program, and packing sacks for the School Fuel Program.  We are very proud of this special group of current and future leaders of our community!
