Hopkins will be closed from Moore Street to Scott Street from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily until Friday, June 29 as City crews continue trimming and removing trees on Hopkins St. to make way for new utility poles.
The work is in preparation for the Hopkins Street Improvements between Bishop and Moore Streets, scheduled to begin in the fall of 2019.
Hopkins is scheduled to be open for auto travel the week of July 4. In late July, there will be various road closures and detours as crews install new poles along Hopkins between Bishop and Moore Streets.
The intersection of Hopkins and Mitchell will be closed the week of July 9 as San Marcos Electric Utility crews install an underground vault for electrical transmission equipment near the intersection.
Project
The Hopkins Street Improvements from Bishop to Moore Streets will replace existing water and wastewater infrastructure, add a drainage system to improve storm water runoff, and reconstruct the street with curbs and sidewalks. A public meeting will be scheduled in July to give an overall project update and allow residents to view the proposed improvements.
