TSUS Regent Garry Crain To Address Fall 2018 Commencement

More than 3,500 students are candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas State this fall.


SAN MARCOS – Garry Crain, member of the Texas State University System Board of Regents, will be the keynote speaker at one of six commencement ceremonies to be held at Texas State University on Dec. 14-15 in the University Events Center.

Crain will speak during the 2 p.m. ceremony Dec. 14, to be attended by degree candidates from the College of Liberal Arts and Graduate College.

Degree candidates from the College of Education and Graduate College will attend the 10 a.m. commencement ceremony Dec. 14.

Degree candidates from the McCoy College of Business Administration and Graduate College will attend the 6 p.m. commencement ceremony Dec. 14

Degree candidates from the College of Applied Arts, University College and Graduate College will attend the 10 a.m. commencement ceremony Dec. 15.

Degree candidates from the College of Science and Engineering, and Graduate College will attend the 2 p.m. commencement ceremony Dec. 15.

Degree candidates from the College of Fine Arts and Communication, College of Health Professions and Graduate College will attend the 6 p.m. commencement ceremony Dec. 15.

More than 3,500 students are candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas State this fall.

Currently self-employed, Crain most recently served as vice president and general manager of Crown Energy Company, Crown Energy Resources LLC, and Basin Engineering. Previously, he served as CEO of Westlake Diversified Medical Systems, LLP, CEO of Cornerstone Hospitals of Austin, president of Kindred Pharmacy Services, and CEO of two Kindred Hospitals.

He is certified by the American Association of Professional Landmen and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, ADAM Oklahoma (Acquisitions, Divestitures and Mergers), and the AOPA.

Additionally, he is a former member of Murray State College Nurse Advisory Board and Southern Oklahoma Physicians/Hospital Organization and former president of Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center Alumni Association.

Crain received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Texas State University and a Master of Health Administration from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. His term on the Board of Regents expires in 2023.
