TWDB to host Water for Texas 2021 conference

AUSTIN – The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) will host its Water for Texas conference, “Clear Vision for the Future,” September 27–29 in Austin at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. Experts from across the country will convene to discuss challenges and solutions to water issues in Texas.

The agenda includes general sessions and breakout panels showcasing four tracks: flood, science and technology, innovation, and water communications.

Attendees will hear from distinguished keynote speakers, including Texas Speaker of the House Dade Phelan; Evan Smith, co-founder and CEO of The Texas Tribune; and Warren Berger, author of The Book of Beautiful Questions.

Speaker Phelan and Evan Smith will sit down for a one-on-one discussion about Texas water policy and will explore the past, present, and future of water in the state with a focus on flooding.

Attendees can earn up to seven hours of continuing education credits approved by the Texas Floodplain Management Association and up to six hours approved by the State Bar of Texas. Several sessions may also qualify for education credits through the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.

The conference will be held in person, and online registration is available through September 24 with rates for industry attendees, government/nonprofit, and students. For the safety of all attendees, temperature checks will be conducted, hand sanitizing stations will be added, and masks will be available for conference attendees.
