Two Day Creative Mosaic Workshop

San Marcos, TX – Local mosaic artist Marnie Silcocks is bringing her talents and a variety of materials and supplies to a new creative, two-day, abstract mosaic workshop at the Price Center March 18 and 25 from 1-4 p.m.

A $50 advance registration fee covers the cost of workshop and the majority of the materials needed to complete a project.

“This latest creative workshop is a nice compliment to the ongoing heritage arts practiced monthly at the Center as well as ongoing workshops we’ve hosted with the LifeLong Learning Organization,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “Folks seem to like the short-term commitment mixed with ability to learn a new creative skill and walk away with a finished product.”

In this Mosaic workshop participants will experience an “out of the box” form of Mosaic design.

This form of Mosaic allows you to use your color choices and design as far as your imagination will take you. Abstract is using the flow of lines of color and materials.

Various items, including wire, glass tiles and beads, and other intriguing materials in unique shapes and sizes will be provided for participants to create an abstract design.

There is no grouting involved. Participants can expect to learn some nipping, fitting and embedding techniques.

Materials provided include: Wedi board, Adhesive, Wire, Copper tape, One D-hook and adhesive, Some materials such as beads and glass tiles. Because the idea is to create one’s own art based on your color and design choices, other materials will be available for purchase.

The Price Center is suggesting for the participants bring up to $10 cash and there will be a small list of required tools and materials.

The class is limited to six participants only. Pre-registration is required.

For more information, please call the Price Center directly at 512-392-2900 or stop by 222 W. San Antonio St., downtown San Marcos, Mon. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
