Two Hays County Offices Closing Temporarily

Hays County Courthouse, San Marcos, TX — Amid the recent reopening of various offices and courts, Hays County leaders say two offices and lobbies need to temporarily close again.

“Hays County has a few employees who recently came into contact with individuals who tested positive for COVID-19,” Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra said. “Out of an abundance of caution and to protect our work force and the public we serve, we are temporarily closing certain offices to conduct additional sanitization and deep cleaning.”

Employees who may have been exposed to the virus will be self-isolating and several have opted to be tested.

Becerra added that the offices will continue working via remote means as many were doing during the initial outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With the technology available, many of the services we provide will continue,” he said.

The offices with public-facing services impacted are:

  1. Justice of the Peace 1-1: This office will temporarily close and will reopen upon further notice. Court staff will be available remotely to assist our residents with their needs.
  2. Office of the County Clerk: All County Clerk locations are closed until further notice. No appointments or phone calls will be taken at this time. Staff will continue to assist customers by E-Record, E-file, fax, mail and email.
