Two Local Restaurants Partner With School Fuel

This year, School Fuel will be providing sacks for 671 students.

School Fuel is partnering with two local restaurants to help raise money for the program.

On Oct. 9, Chuy’s San Marcos location celebrated their one year anniversary by donating 10 percent of sales to School Fuel from 4 p.m. to closing.

The Chipotle, located at the outlet mall, will also be donating proceeds to the program on Thursday, Oct. 19. From 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., 50 percent of the restaurant’s sales will go toward helping School Fuel make sack meals for local students.

Restaurant goers will have to show or mention school fuel for the program to get a portion of the sale.

In 2013, the program began providing sacks with two meals and four snacks for every day of the week to 31 students who were at high-risk of having little to no food at home. Seventy-five percent of children in the district qualify for free or reduced lunch in school.

Students within the program showed an increase in school performance. This year, School Fuel will be providing sacks for 671 students.
