Two Texas State Students Named to SBC All-Tournament Team

NEW ORLEANS – The Texas State men’s basketball team had Kavin Gilder-Tilbury and Immanuel King be named to the Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team. The duo are the first Bobcats to receive all-tournament honors since 2013.

Gilder-Tilbury averaged 11.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game of the tournament. He made 11-of-22 shots and finished 7-for-13 from beyond the arc while converting 6-of-8 free throw attempts. The senior had his best game of the tournament in the finals with a 19-point effort in which he scored 17 in the second half.

King shined in the Big Easy as he averaged 10.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. He began the tournament by setting a career-high with four blocks against ULM. The junior followed with a 13-point, 5-rebound effort in the upset victory over No. 1 seed UTA.

In the championship game against Troy, King scored 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting, grabbed a team best eight rebounds and surpassed his career-high in rejections with five.

Filling out of the rest of the all-tournament team was Louisiana’s Jay Wright and Troy’s Jeremy Hollimon, Jordon Varnado and Wesley Person, who was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Texas State take on Lamar on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Strahan Coliseum in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
