AUSTIN — As part of national Child Passenger Safety Week, Sept. 18-24, the Texas Department of Transportation is demonstrating the proper installation of a car seat on Friday Sept. 16, 2016 from 10 a.m. – Noon . TxDOT also reminds drivers to make an appointment for free, year-round car seat checks at any of the agency’s 25 statewide district offices.
Texas law requires any child younger than 8 (unless they are taller than 4 feet 9 inches) to be in a child safety seat whenever riding in a passenger vehicle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3 out of 4 child safety seats are not installed properly.
The event will be held at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. As the area’s only Pediatric Level I Trauma Center, Dell Children’s often sees the most critically injured patients and provides the highest level of pediatric trauma care within a 46-county region.
The Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central is located at 4900 Mueller Blvd. Austin, Texas 78723
