On Tuesday, July 24 from 6 PM – 7:30 PM, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will hold a public meeting at the Dunbar Recreation Center located at 801 Martin Luther King Drive, San Marcos, TX 78666 (Map).
The purpose of the public meeting is to gather public input on the proposed improvements to Hopkins Street from Bishop Street to Moore Street in San Marcos, Texas. Comments must be received on or before Aug. 14, 2018 to be a part of the official meeting record.
The project, which occurs within the Hopkins Street Local Historic District, would address the street, sidewalks, utilities, and drainage from Moore Street to Bishop Street. Traffic calming and project aesthetics will also be discussed. The project team will be on hand to take comments and answer questions.
The meeting will be an opportunity for the public to receive an update on the project, as well as information regarding the effects of the project on the historic district and historically significant properties.
The public will have an opportunity to consult on this project as part of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. Exhibits of the design elements and project scope will be available for viewing at the meeting.
The public meeting will be conducted in English; however, Spanish meeting materials and Spanish-speaking City staff will be available. Persons interested in attending the meeting who have special communication or accommodation needs, or need an interpreter, are encouraged to contact the City of San Marcos CIP/Engineering Department at (512) 393-8130.
Requests should be made at least two days prior to the public meeting. Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate these needs. If you have general questions or concerns regarding the proposed project, you may contact City CIP/Engineering Department at (512) 393-8130.
Memorandum of Understanding: The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried-out by TxDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 16, 2014, and executed by FHWA and TxDOT.
