ROUND ROCK – On Monday, June 25 at 5 a.m., the Texas Department of Transportation will open the newly reconstructed FM 3406 bridge over I-35 in Round Rock to east and westbound traffic, two months ahead of schedule. The bridge has been upgraded to include two through lanes and a dedicated left-turn lane in each direction.

The project also includes the addition of two new U-turn bridges. To open the U-turn bridges, frontage roads will need to be raised and reconfigured.

Please be aware of temporary lane reductions on the north and southbound I-35 frontage roads at FM 3406, so crews can safely perform this work. This work will be completed over the next several weeks, weather permitting. (Please see attached illustration for more details.)

The I-35 at FM 3406 project is improving mobility, safety and connectivity for all modes of transportation along and across I-35.

The $12.4 million project reconstructs the FM 3406 bridge over I-35, adds a new U-turn bridge in each direction, improves the north and southbound I-35 frontage roads at FM 3406, and includes new and upgraded bicycle and pedestrian paths.

Construction is anticipated to be complete fall 2018, weather permitting. The contractor is Flatiron Constructors, Inc.
