Wimberley HS’s Future Farmers Of America To Host Plant Sale

Wimberley ISD – Wimberley High School’s Future Farmers of America organization is made up of students focused on agricultural education with training and courses that prepare them for any career.

An important part of their training is attendance at the National FFA Convention, the largest in the country, for members from around the nation and abroad.

The WHS FFA officers look forward to this weeklong event in Indianapolis because of the many exciting opportunities it offers young people.

“There are motivational keynote speakers, fulfilling workshops, award recognition ceremonies and a sweeping exposition floor bustling with agriculture education and industry opportunities,” said Brady Reid, WHS Ag Teacher.

The students are working hard to pay their way to this exciting convention by hosting a plant sale, and are hoping that the Wimberley community will support them.

The sale, featuring plants that the students cultivated and grew themselves, is slated for Friday, March 27 from 8 AM to 6 PM and Saturday, March 28 from 8 AM to 2 PM at the WHS greenhouse next to the Ag Barn.

“We are excited to offer some beautiful plants and even vegetables for those with green thumbs or even those who want to get started on a home garden for the first time,” said Reid.

“We definitely have experts here who can provide some advice on how to grow some very fruitful plants,” he added.

Among the plants on sale are herb baskets, big red slicing tomatoes, snapdragons and a variety of hanging baskets.

The convention will run Oct. 28-31.
