TXST Women’s Tennis Hosts UL Lafayette on Thursday

San Marcos, Texas – The Texas State women’s tennis team returns home for two of its final three matches of the regular season this Friday and Sunday. The Bobcats begin the home stand hosting four other Sun Belt Conference Team in a five-match pod beginning on Friday, April 8.
 

The Bobcats play UL Lafayette at 1:30 p.m. on Friday after the conclusion of a match between UL Monroe and Arkansas State that begins at 10 a.m.
 

Saturday’s matches include Arkansas State taking on UL Lafayette at 10 a.m., and ULM facing UT Arlington at 1:30 p.m.
 

On Sunday, the Bobcats close out the weekend hosting UTA at 10 a.m.
 

Texas State enters the weekend with a 7-10 overall record after falling 4-1 at UTSA on March 30. The loss came after the Bobcats had won back-to-back matches against UL Monroe and Arkansas State in Lafayette on March 25-26. Texas State enters the UL Lafayette match with a 2-1 record against Sun Belt Conference teams.
 

The Bobcats won two of their three doubles matches at UTSA. Eva Dench and Pippa Carr improved their record to 5-1 as a doubles team this spring with a 6-3 victory over Lina Hallgren and Charlene Tiwari. They are 1-0 in Sun Belt Conference matches.

 

Katy Collins and Ammaarah Tim raised their record to 6-2 in No. 3 matches after clinching the doubles point at UTSA with a 7-6 (8-6) win over Sonia Madronal Medina and Alena Shichkova. The duo enters this weekend with a 2-0 mark against Sun Belt Conference teams.

 

Ana Perez leads the Bobcats with seven wins in singles this spring as she enters the UL Lafayette match with a 7-8 record, including a 5-7 mark in No. 5 matches. Carr has six wins in singles play, with four victories coming in No. 2 matches.
 

Collins leads the Bobcats with 11 wins in doubles matches with an 11-5 overall record, while Dench owns a 10-4 doubles mark this spring.
 

Following their two matches this weekend, the Bobcats close out the regular season hosting UT Rio Grande Valley on April 16 at 10 a.m. before traveling to the SBC Tournament in New Orleans on April 21-24.
