U.S. 183 Road Construction, Closures You Need To Know About For Monday, March 12 – 16

• Need To Know Road Construction Projects •

 

  • Continuously until 3/16 at 9 am | Smith Road will be closed west of US 183. All traffic will detour to Eastgate Road.

 

  • SATURDAY 3/10 from 10 pm – 10 am, and MONDAY – FRIDAY 3/12 – 3/16 from 10 pm – 6 am | The southbound mainlanes of US 183 will be closed from Thompson Lane to E. Riverside Dr. In addition, the Westbound SH 71 on ramp to the southbound mainlanes of US 183 will be closed. Traffic will detour to the Riverside U-turn.

 

  • MONDAY 3/12 and WEDNESDAY 3/14 from 10 pm – 6 am | Southbound Airport Blvd will be closed from Levander Loop to US 183. In addition, Southbound US 183 will be closed from Bolm Rd to Montopolis Dr. Traffic will detour via 7th Street.

 

  • MONDAY 3/12 from 8 pm – 6 am | The exit to Airport Boulevard, Cesar Chavez, 5th, and 7th Street from northbound US 183 will be closed. Follow signed detour.

 

  • MONDAY 3/12 through SATURDAY 3/17 from 8 pm – 6 am | TechniCenter will be closed at its intersection with Southbound US 183. Business access will be maintained along TechniCenter from the west. Traffic will detour from MLK to Tannehill. 

 

  • TUESDAY 3/13 from 9 pm – 6 am | Southbound US 183 will be reduced to one lane from Loyola Lane to MLK and Northbound US 183 will be reduced to one lane from TechniCenter Dr to Loyola Lane. 

 

  • TUESDAY 3/13 from 9 am – 3 pm | The Southbound Frontage Road of US 183 will be reduced to one lane from US 290 to Manor/Springdale Rd.

 

  • TUESDAY 3/13 from 8 pm – 6 am | Northbound Airport Blvd. will be closed from Vargas Rd to Bolm Rd, and the left lane closure will begin at Vargas Rd.

 

  • WEDNESDAY 3/14 from 8 pm – 6 pm | Southbound mainlanes of US 183 will be closed from US 290 to Loyola Lane. All traffic will exit at Manor off-ramp; go through the Manor/Springdale intersection to the southbound general-purpose lanes of US 183.

 

  • THURSDAY 3/15 from 9 am – 3 pm | Levander Loop will be closed under the Colorado River for bridge construction. Traffic will follow Levander Loop to detour to Northbound US 183.

 

  • Through 3/15 from 7 am – 7 pm | Del Monte Road will be closed by one lane between Saxon Lane and Bonnett Street.

• COMING SOON •

A phased reconstruction of the US 183 and Loyola Lane intersection began in September 2017 and will continue through late 2018, weather permitting.

The next phase of construction will begin in early February 2018 and will include a long-term closure of the Loyola Lane crossing over US 183, as well as other impacts, noted in the attached alert.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”

The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.

The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
