U.S. 183 Road Construction, Closures You Need To Know About For The Week Of Sunday, April 30

Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, and utility upgrades. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

 US 183 Need To Know Road Closures

 

 

  • Monday through Friday (4/30-5/4) from 9 am to 5 pm, the US 183 northbound frontage road will be reduced by one lane between Manor/Springdale Road and US 290.

 

  • Monday through Wednesday (4/30-5/2) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be reduced by one lane between US 290 and 51st Street

 

  • Monday through Thursday (4/30-5/3) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed at SH 71 from Thompson Lane to E. Riverside Dr. All traffic will exit for SH 71 westbound and detour to the U-turn at E. Riverside Drive. Head east on SH 71 for the US 183 southbound ramp.

 

  • Monday (4/30) from 8 pm to 6 am, the US 183 northbound mainlanes will be closed at MLK Jr. Blvd. All traffic will exit for MLK Jr. Blvd and go through the intersection to access US 183 northbound.

 

  • Wednesday and Thursday (5/2-3) from 8 pm to 6 am, southbound Airport Blvd will be closed between Levander Loop and US 183. Also, the US 183 southbound mainlanes will be closed over the Colorado River. Traffic will detour over 7th Street. Expect Delays. If heading to the airport in the late evening/early morning, please plan ahead.

UPCOMING

Beginning as early as late April 2018 (subject to change), eastbound Montopolis Drive traffic will detour via a newly constructed section of roadway that will run alongside existing US 183. Crews will remove the existing Montopolis Drive bridge and construct a new and improved bridge over US 183. Further information is coming soon.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”

The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.

The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
