Work continues along US 183, including bridge construction, roadway installation, and utility upgrades. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change.

US 183 Need To Know Road Closures

 

 

  • Monday, May 7 from 8pm to 6am: Westbound SH 71 will be closed from Brandt Drive to US 183. Traffic will detour to the Palm Harbor Homes crossover.

 

  • Monday, May 7 through Wednesday, May 9 from 8pm to 6am: Northbound US 183 will be closed from TechniCenter Dr. to MLK Blvd, and Southbound US 183 will be closed from Loyola Lane to MLK Blvd. Traffic will exit MLK Blvd. and go through the intersection

 

  • Monday, May 7 through Friday, May 11 from 8pm to 6am: Southbound US 183 will be closed from Thompson Lane to East Riverside Drive. Traffic will detour Westbound SH 71 to the Riverside U-turn to access southbound US 183.

 

  • Thursday, May 10 from 8pm to 6 am, and Friday, May 11 from 8pm to 10am: The southbound mainlanes of US 183 will be reduced to one lane beginning prior to the Manor Rd exit and continuing through 51st Street. All traffic will exit at the Manor Road off-ramp, go through the Manor/Springdale Road intersection, and regain access to the US 183 mainlanes south of Manor/Springdale Road.

 

  • Friday May 11 from 8pm to 10am: There will be a series of lane and ramp closures at SH 71 and US 183:

° Northbound US 183 to SH 71 Eastbound ramp will be closed. Traffic will detour to Spirit of Texas.

°Eastbound SH 71 to US 183 Northbound ramp will be closed. Traffic will detour to Spirit of Texas.

°Southbound US 183 to SH 71 will be closed from Brandt Drive to E. Riverside Drive. Traffic will detour to Riverside Drive to Southbound US 183.

° Westbound SH 71 will be closed from Brandt Drive to US 183. Traffic will detour to Palm Harbor Homes crossover.

 

UPCOMING

Beginning as early as late April 2018 (subject to change), eastbound Montopolis Drive traffic will detour via a newly constructed section of roadway that will run alongside existing US 183. Crews will remove the existing Montopolis Drive bridge and construct a new and improved bridge over US 183. Further information is coming soon.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) is an independent government agency created in 2002 to improve the transportation system in Williamson and Travis counties.

According to their website, their mission is “to implement innovative, multi-modal transportation solutions that reduce congestion and create transportation choices that enhance quality of life and economic vitality.”

The Mobility Authority was created and operates under the Texas Transportation Code Chapter 370 and is authorized under state law to implement a wide range of transportation systems including roadways, airports, seaports and transit services.

The Mobility Authority is authorized to issue revenue bonds to fund projects and can utilize user fees and/or taxes to fund operations and repay bonds.
