UIL State Champs Recognized By Trustees

The Speech and Debate team is coached by Davy Holmes and Josh Aguilar. On Monday, April 17, 2017, the San Marcos CISD School Board recognized Will Hutchison and Hayden Gish for being crowned as the 2017 6A University Interscholastic League Cross-Examination (CX) Debate State Champs on Saturday, March 18, at the University of Texas-Austin.

The team of Hutchison (a junior) and Gish (a sophomore) defeated Winston Churchill High School in the final round to finish with a 7-1 record at the state competition, which consisted of a field of 61 teams. Will is a two-time CX state qualifier and has also twice qualified for the Texas Forensic Association state tournament.

Hayden was an alternate to state as a freshman, so this was his first year competing at the state level. The Speech and Debate team is coached by Davy Holmes and Josh Aguilar.
