Over the last 13 months, the University Police Department (UPD) has increased foot patrols to ensure safety at our San Marcos Campus.
Texas State University Police released a statement on their Facebook page Dec. 3 about the recent detainment of five men in the San Jacinto Parking Garage.
According to UPD, the five men were detained shortly after white supremacist fliers were posted in the Music Building and in an area along the Quad. The individuals had several of the posters on them.
The five individuals are reported to have had several of the fliers in their possession at the time UPD questioned them. None of them are currently enrolled at Texas State University. UPD Officers issued trespass warnings to the five men, which will allow them to issue trespass citations if found on campus again.
Over the last 13 months, the University Police Department (UPD) has increased foot patrols to ensure safety at our San Marcos Campus. On Sunday night, UPD officers issued criminal trespass warnings to five men who apparently had posted dozens of unauthorized flyers and banners on Texas State University grounds.
The men, none of whom are enrolled at Texas State, were detained at the San Jacinto Parking Garage, where they had assembled after several of the handbills had been posted near the Music Building and in an area along the Quad.
The individuals were carrying some of the handbills when UPD officers questioned them, and they acknowledged posting them on university property. The warnings allow UPD officers to issue criminal trespass citations to the individuals if they return to campus. Texas State is a safe environment, and UPD’s increased foot patrols make our campus even safer.
