UPDATE: Burglary Suspects Apprehended In San Marcos

January 28, 2016 – 6:15 p.m.

 

As detectives completed their on-scene investigation and conducted interviews, it was found that the subject initially identified as a suspect in this incident was NOT involved in the burglary and will not be charged.

 

JARED LUPE ZAVALA, HISPANIC /MALE, 24 YEARS of AGE was in the area but was NOT involved in the reported incident.

 

It was verified that Mr. Zavala has no association with the other two subjects. It is believed that the home-owner actually observed only two subjects and misidentified that a third person was involved. Witnesses on scene have confirmed the information. The two involved individuals have been arrested:

 

JOEL RENE PEREZ, HISPANIC /MALE, 20 YEARS of AGE

OSCAR PEREZ, JR., HISPANIC /MALE, 21 YEARS of AGE

 

And they will be charged with: BURGLARY OF A HABITATION PENAL CODE 30.02, FELONY 2

Burglary Suspects Apprehended In San Marcos

 
On Thursday, January 28, 2016, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Hays County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a Burglary in Progress at “The Regency Mobile Home Park”. The residence is located in the 300 block of Woodrose in San Marcos. The homeowner contacted 911 after he received a motion activated alarm on his cell phone.
 
The homeowner was able to provide the 911 operator the physical description of three subjects that he observed on his cell phone via a surveillance camera. Law enforcement responded and was on scene within one minute of the call. The officer observed three subjects attempting to load a large safe into a passenger car.
 
The three subjects fled on foot and were apprehended after a short foot pursuit. San Marcos Police Department also responded to assist with the call. The suspects are Hays County residents from the Kyle and San Marcos area.
 
The suspects are identified as:
JARED LUPE ZAVALA, HISPANIC /MALE, 24 YEARS of AGE
JOEL RENE PEREZ, HISPANIC /MALE, 20 YEARS of AGE
OSCAR PEREZ, JR., HISPANIC /MALE, 21 YEARS of AGE
 
The suspects will be charged with: BURGLARY OF A HABITATION; PENAL CODE 30.02, FELONY 2
