Update:
Alton, Illinois Police Department notified Hays County Sheriff’s Office this morning that 17-year-old, William Michael Bryars, suspect in the aggravated assault in Dripping Springs, has been taken is in custody.
According to Alton Police Department, US Marshalls took Bryars into custody after a short vehicle chase. In attempt to evade officers, Bryars wrecked his mother’s 2012, 2-door Nissan Altima.
Authorities said Bryars suffered minor injuries and is being treated in a local hospital. As of right now, it is unknown whether Alton Police Department will be filing charges against Bryars. When the suspect will be extradited back to Texas is unknown.
Alton Police Department is 20 miles from St. Louis, Missiouri, where Bryars was reported to have been heading.
Bryars is wanted for attacking his mother with a hammer and stabbing her with a screwdriver. 53-year-old Kathy Ann Bryars was taken to an Austin-area hospital for treatment. Her condition is currently unknown.

A 17-year-old is wanted by Hays County Sheriff’s Department in the connection to an aggravated assault, Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, William Michael Bryars assaulted his mother with a hammer and stabbed her with a screwdriver. The suspect fled the scene with his mother’s black 2012 2-door Nissan Altima.
The victim was taken to an Austin area hospital and is being treated for her injuries. Her current condition is unknown.
Bryars is described as white male, 17 years of age, 5’9” tall, 145 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Citizens are advised not to approach and to call 911 immediately if seen.
Authorities believe Bryars may be headed for Missouri as threats were made to other family members. The stolen vehicle has damage to the passenger side bumpers.
