UPDATE: Involved Vehicles Have Been Towed

The vehicles involved in the accident have been towed and/or removed. I35 Northbound should be open as soon as emergency personnel are able to depart.

All northbound lanes of IH-35 will be closed for the next two hours as emergency crews clean up a semi truck crash on the overpass near HW 80. Motorists are asked to exit at HWY 80 or use HWY 21 as an alternate route.

One of the trailers the semi was pulling struck the center wall of the interstate at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday. The resulting crash knocked over a light pole that damaged a car in one of the southbound lanes and briefly caused a lane closure that has since been reopened.

The driver of the semi was transported to Seton Medical Center-Hays with minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

The San Marcos Fire Department HAZMAT team is on the scene to clean up the spilled fuel from the truck and oversee the handling of Freon tanks in the cargo of one of the trailers. The gas is nonflammable and does not pose a hazard to the public.

At 5 a.m., wreckers were on scene to clear the crash.

Corridor News will do our best to keep you informed of the breaking infomatiion…..as soon as we hear I35 is open we will update our website and social media.
