SAN MARCOS —On July 23 at 3 p.m. San Marcos Police SWAT and the Hays County Sheriff’s Office responded to a barricaded subject call in a unit at Copper Beach Apartments on the 1700 block of Mill Street.
According to local law enforcement, police were responding to reports that Maxwell resident and suspect, Harley Davidson-Smith, 23, had an active arrest warrant for felony burglary issued by the Georgetown Police.
The International Association of Chiefs of Police defines a barricaded subject us: “A barricaded individual is a person who has taken a position in a physical location, most often a structure or vehicle, that does not allow immediate police access—and who is refusing police orders to exit. These types of situations can be highly volatile and have the potential to endanger the lives of officers and others.”
At 3:54 p.m. the city of San Marcos provided an update through Twitter that the suspect was in custody with no injuries, and residents may resume normal activities in the area.
Davidson-Smith was booked into the Hays County Jail on Friday July 23 and remains there with four bonds totaling $50,000.
According to law enforcement, Davidson-Smith was charged with multiple crimes by both the San Marcos and Georgetown Police Department including criminal trespassing, criminal trespassing of habitation and interfering with public duties by SMPD.
