UPDATE: SMPD Arrests Armed Robbery Suspect

The San Marcos Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at Spirit Pit Stop, 1214 IH 35 South, that occurred December 11, 2020.

The suspect has been identified as Miguel Perez (DOB 01/19/2000) of San Marcos, TX.

Perez was arrested for unrelated crimes on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021. Following his arrest, detectives obtained a warrant for Perez for the Spirit Pit Stop robbery.

Detectives have also linked Perez to multiple robberies across Travis County.

“SMPD wishes to extend a big thanks to our local residents for their assistance in solving this crime,” said Chief Stan Standridge. “Our team also wants to thank the Austin Police Department Robbery Unit and the Westlake Hills Police Department for their collaboration on this case.” 

Perez was charged with Aggravated Robbery, Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, Search, or Transport, Taking or Attempting to Take a Weapon from an Officer, Criminal Mischief <$750, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. As of this release, Perez remains in the Hays County Jail on a $321,000 bond.
