UPDATED 10:29 AM: NOAA Issues Hazardous Weather Outlook For Hays County, Hill Country

The following counties are under a Hazardous Weather Outlook over the next couple of days…

UPDATED 10:27 AM: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Hays County until 9 PM Wednesday, January 2.

An urban and small stream flood advisory is in effect until 3:00 p.m. Widespread moderate rain continues to fall in the area. Low water crossings will be particularly vulnerable to flooding. Officials expect rainfall totals of 2-3 inches, and rain amounts could result in isolated flash flooding along area roadways, underpasses and low lying areas.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for South-Central Texas.. DAY ONE…Today And Tonight.

There is a chance of freezing rain today and tonight across the Hill Country and portions of Central Texas, roughly near and north of a Llano to Fredericksburg to Rocksprings line. At this time ice accumulations are expected to remain under one tenth of an inch, with some icy spots will be possible on mainly elevated bridges, overpasses, and metal surfaces.

This is still an evolving forecast and locations of freezing rain and potential impacts may significantly change as more data becomes available.

With dormant vegetation, decent soil moisture, and moderate rainfall forecast today some minor or nuisance flooding could be possible along and east of Highway 281. The heaviest rainfall will be possible along and east of Interstate 35 and north of Interstate 10 through the day.

Cold morning lows and breezy conditions will lead to windchill values in the mid to upper 20s today across parts of the Hill Country, Edwards Plateau, and I-35 corridor. Be sure to dress accordingly with coats, scarves, and multiple layers to keep warm during the cold and breezy mornings.

DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Thursday through Tuesday.

Cold morning lows and breezy conditions will lead to windchill values in the mid to upper 20s for each morning Thursday and Friday across parts of the Hill Country, Edwards Plateau, and I-35 corridor. Be sure to dress accordingly with coats, scarves, and multiple layers to keep warm during the cold and breezy mornings.
