US Rep. Will Hurd Becomes Newest Member Of Friends Of Job Corps Caucus

US Rep. Will Hurd R-Texas, becomes the 91^st member of the Caucus joining the 13 Texas Congressmen and women.

The Friends of Job Corps Caucus brings together a diverse and bipartisan group of U.S. House members to serve as a unified voice for the thousands of economically disadvantaged youth Job Corps serves annually.

The Caucus draws attention to the integral role Job Corps plays in the economic well-being of local communities, youth and U.S. taxpayers.

Since the Job Corps Caucus was established in 2006, it has become one of the largest and most influential congressional member organizations for disadvantaged youth on Capitol Hill.

Job Corps is the nation’s largest and most successful academic remediation and career preparation program for economically disadvantaged youth.

Each year 50,000 high school dropouts, homeless young adults, young parents and students with learning disabilities enroll in Job Corps. It provides these youth with the tools they need to start at successful career and become financially independent.

The 126 Job Corps centers across the nation have helped nearly 3 million disadvantaged young Americans and annually employ more than 15,000 people which results in more than $2 billion in economic activity across the country.

The Texas delegation are Congressmen; Joaquin Castro, Henry Cuellar, Lloyd Doggett, Al Green, Gene Green, Beto O’Rourke, Pete Sessions, Lamar Smith, Marc Veasey, Filemon Vela, Roger Williams, Congresswomen; Sheila Jackson Lee, and Eddie Bernice Johnson.
