San Marcos, TX – A Salute to Veterans via a display of local vet’s stories created by Crocket and Hernandez elementary school students, and impromptu sing-alongs with members of the Heart of Texas Chorus will be highlights of the Price Center’s next San Mercado slated for Saturday, Nov. 9, from 9 AM – 4 PM.
In addition, the Downtown Veterans’ Day Parade and Breakfast gets underway at 8:30 a.m. on the Square where viewers will also encounter the Farmers Market, Art Squared and a number of other Downtown Walkabout activities throughout the day and into the evening, including the new San Marcos Art Center and the opening for the new state-wide Tiny Texas Art Show at 218 Co-Op Gallery.
San Mercado takes place in the Garden and throughout the various indoor venues of the Price Center. The Market features an eclectic mix of local vendors – new and returning — selling everything from fresh pies to plants, handmade goods, original art, collectibles, and unique holiday and gift items, as well as small retail products, including jewelry, make-up, and housewares.
In addition to vendors and the Veterans-focused activities, “Peace & Understanding,” a new community art show featuring more than 60 artworks hangs throughout the Center and a selection or new works by SMHS students hangs in the 1893 Room.
Admission to San Mercado is free and open to all. New Vendors are always welcome. Indoor Booths are $30; Outdoor are $20.
The monthly market is made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission. Proceeds from booth rentals benefit the Price Center, which is operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA), a 501 (c) 3 non-profit.
For more information about San Mercado, including reserving booth space, please call 512-392-2900, stop by the Center at 222 W. San Antonio St. Mon. – Fri., 9 to 5 PM, or visit price-center.org or Facebook @ Price Center & Garden.
