The Texas State volleyball team stayed undefeated in Sun Belt conference play this weekend as they swept the Ragin’ Cajuns from Louisiana Lafayette in three sets.

In the first set, the Bobcats started out strong forcing the Ragin’ Cajuns to call an early time out at 11-6, Bobcats. The timeout didn’t work well as the Bobcats went on a 5-1 run into the next UL timeout. The Bobcats went on to win the set 25-15. Amanda Watkins had five kills while Shelby Vas Matt collected three kills of her own.

The second set started competitive, but by the first timeout called by Lafayette, they found themselves down, 13-7. The Bobcats would only continue to dominate from that point and went on to win the set, 25-15. Amanda Watkins continued her great afternoon with four kills in the second set while Keeley Davis and Kelsey Weynand each had three kills.

The third set proved to be the most competitive one as about halfway through the set Texas State only lead 14-13, but from there the Bobcats went on an 11-4 run to win the set and match 25-17.

“I think that was our most complete dominating match of the season,” Coach Karen Chisum said after the game. “We served tough, we passed well, in those first two sets particularly.”

The Bobcats improve to 11-7 on the season and 6-0 in Sun Belt Conference play. Their next match is at UT-Arlington Wednesday night at 6:30. The Bobcats next home game is Friday, October 10th at 6 PM in Strahan Coliseum.
