Voters Will Decide JP 1-2 Judge At 2016 General Election

At its June 30 meeting, the Hays County Commissioners Court voted unanimously to wait until the November 2016 general election to allow voters to select a new judge for the Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Place 2 position that was left vacant when Judge Margie H. Hernandez passed away in April of this year.

The Court also thanked Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Place 1 Jo Anne Prado for carrying out the duties of both offices and commended her and the staffs of both JP offices for the work that they are continuing.

Between now and the November 2016 election, the Court will review the operations of the two offices to determine if there are operational and budgetary efficiencies that could benefit both JP offices, including the possibility of maintaining a combined staff for two justices of the peace.
