Weekend Dinner Plans: Louie’s Oyster House and Beer Garden Review

by Luke K

Louie’s Beer Garden & Oyster House is a novelty to the San Marcos area, as the region (and Texas in general) lacks many Seafood-based restaurants. Louie’s novelties include Oysters served several ways, Buttery Lobster Rolls, Fried Catfish, and a whole host of unique sauces that deliver quite a delightful food experience.

The Beer Garden & Oyster House opened the middle of 2013 set on offering fresh, tasty seafood as well as a huge selection of on-tap beers in a friendly and welcoming environment.

The unique location appears to hold quite a bit of potential for any expansion plans or variation in service.

A visionary could see the property expanding with picnic tables encircling the outside of the bar area, and extending to the front and behind the main building.

As far as the menu’s concerned, Louie’s offer’s an awesome selection of items such as: Crab-stuffed Jalapenos, classic Boudin Balls, and Shrimp Gumbo.

I personally love that they offer Lobster Rolls, as this is the only place in San Marcos to get one, and they are quite good!

They also carry unique special’s like blackened Alligator. Admittedly, I am really into their Fried Catfish and remoulade sauce.

Additionally, Louie’s offers over 100+ Beers along with a full bar!

Louie’s Oyster House and Beer Garden is located at 224 N Guadalupe St. across from the fire station. Hours of Operation are: Mon – Sun: 11:00 am – 12:00 am
