While construction is tough on everyone, TxDOT is trying to do
everything they can to minimize disruptions.

I-35 CORRIDOR ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

MONDAY 9/29 – FRIDAY 10/5

I-35 CORRIDOR MAINTENANCE CLOSURES

PROJECT OVERVIEW | These lane closures are associated with on going maintenance activities throughout the corridor.

Closures are weather permitting

• SAN MARCOS – Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Center Point Rd. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 1

• SAN MARCOS – Southbound I-35 right lane closed between SH 123 and RM 12. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 3

• Northbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between 7th St. and 8th St. | 7 AM until 5 PM Saturday, September 29

I-35 FROM STASSNEY LANE TO WILLIAM CANNON DRIVE

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, as well as the frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek.

New U-turn bridges will be added in both directions at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the I-35 mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes to allow for better merging.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements are also being made, and new safety lighting is being installed.

• Northbound I-35 left lane closed at William Cannon Dr. | 8 AM until 12 PM Saturday, September 29

• North to southbound I-35 U-turn Bridge closed at Stassney Ln. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 1 through Wednesday, October 3

• North to southbound I-35 U-turn Bridge closed at William Cannon Dr. | 9 AM until 3 PM Tuesday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 3

• Eastbound William Cannon Dr. reduced to one lane at I-35. | 8 PM until 5 AM Sunday, September 30 through Wednesday, October 3

I-35 AT OLTORF ST.

PROJECT OVERVIEW | Improvements include the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improving entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, constructing new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and adding U-turns in both directions at Oltorf Street.

Bicycle and pedestrian enhancements will also be made along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Oltorf St. Watch for flaggers. | 8 AM until 5 PM Monday, October 1 through Friday, October 5

• Southbound I-35 frontage road left lane closed between Oltorf St. and St. Edwards Dr. Watch for flaggers. | 8 AM until 5 PM Monday, October 1 through Friday, October 5

• Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane under Oltorf St. | 10 PM until 6 AM Wednesday, October 3 through Thursday, October 4

I-35 FROM RUNDBERG LN. TO US 290 EAST

PROJECT OVERVIEW | This project includes main-lanes and frontage road reconstruction and the addition of three new flyovers at US 183.

The project also includes reconstruction of the St. Johns Avenue Bridge, the addition of frontage road U-turns on both sides, intersection bypass lanes under St. Johns Avenue in both directions, extended entrance/exit lanes, and ramp and shoulder improvements.

• Powell Ln. closed at I-35. Please use Wonsley Dr. | Through winter 2018

• Northbound I-35 exit #241 closed at Rundberg Ln. and alternating frontage road closures between US 183 and Little Walnut Creek. | 9 PM until 5 AM Saturday, September 29 through Thursday, October 4

• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Huntland Dr. and US 290E. | 9 PM until 5 AM Sunday, September 30 through Thursday, October 4

• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at Blackson Ave. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 1 through Tuesday, October 2

I-35 AT FM 3406

PROJECT OVERVIEW | The intersection of FM 3406 and the I-35 frontage roads are being improved, and the FM 3406 bridge over I-35 is being reconstructed.

The FM 3406 (Old Settlers Blvd) bridge will close to eastbound traffic. Westbound traffic will detour to the newly constructed U-turn Bridge. | Until summer 2018, weather permitting.

• North and southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed at FM 3406. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 3

I-35 FROM US 79 TO SH 45 NORTH

PROJECT ACTIVITY | New braided ramps (where one ramp crosses over the other) are being constructed along the northbound I-35 mainlanes between Hesters Crossing and RM 620 to eliminate merging conflicts.

The northbound and southbound intersections of US 79 and the I-35 frontage roads are also being reconstructed to add a third left-turn for westbound US 79.

• Northbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between Gattis School Rd. and RM 620. | 8 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 1 through Friday, October 5

• Southbound I-35 frontage road right lane closed between US 79 and RM 620. | 9 AM until 3 PM Monday, October 1

I-35 AT COUNTY ROAD 305

PROJECT ACTIVITY | The project will reconstruct the CR 305 bridge and realign CR 304 East to connect to the newly constructed bridge. Pedestrian enhancements will also be made within the project limits.

Closures are weather permitting

• Southbound I-35 reduced to one lane between Bell County Line and FM 487. Exit #275 will also be closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Monday, October 1 through Tuesday, October 2

• Northbound I-35 reduced to one lane between FM 487 and Bell County Line. The FM 487 entrance ramp will also be closed. | 9 PM until 5 AM Tuesday, October 2 through Wednesday, October 3
