Willie Watson Jr. As Next Asst. Superintendent Of Human Resources

The San Marcos CISD school board unanimously approved Willie Watson, Jr. as the next Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources in Monday evening, February 15, 2016. He comes with over 18 years of experience in city government and large school districts – the most recent being Manor, Pflugerville, Round Rock ISD’s. Watson did his internship with the City of North Richland Hills, the third largest city in Tarrant County.

 

He earned his Bachelors of Art in Public Administration and Composite Social Students with Teachers Certification at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. Later he completed his Masters of Public Administration with emphasis in Human Resource Management at University North Texas – Denton. He has been a guest teacher for Lewisville ISD and Round Rock ISD.

 

He holds certifications as a Texas Employee Relations Mediator, Lifetime Secondary Social Studies Composite for grades 6-12, and is a member of both the Society of Human Resource Management and Austin Human Resource Management Association.

 

Watson’s history is that of community involvement and professional support. He served as the Central Texas President of the Texas Association of School Personnel Administrators (TASPA) District III, before becoming the TASPA President –Elect in December 2015 at the state level.

 

Watson has served in mentorship programs at the professional level, and a student mentor in the school districts he has served.

 

While at Manor ISD, Watson hosted President Barack Obama when he made a site visit to the school district in 2013.

 

He begins effective March 8, in the position formerly held by Dr. Lolly Guerra.
